Transportation of weapons

Weapons, ammunition and special equipment shall be accepted for transportation only upon prior permission of the carrier.

Passengers are not permitted to have the following articles in the aircraft cabin during the flight:

  • all types of firearm, spray gun and ammunition;
  • all types of cold steel;
  • thrust and cutting items.

Transportation of weapons in the cabin of aircraft is allowed only the employees of the Russian Federal Bodyguard Service and Russian State Courier Service who are on duty.

Weapon of passengers will be accepted on board only on presentation of license duly issued under the applicable laws, rules, regulations and orders of the state authorities. Weapon is transported as checked baggage in the baggage compartment of the aircraft.

If an aircraft crosses a national border on its route, the passenger must arrange in advance the transportation of the weapon on board with the relevant authorities in the countries concerned, so that the current laws and regulations in these countries are complied with. To enter a country with a weapon, passengers must have permission from competent authorities in that country.

Weapon shall be discharged and kept separately from ammunition.

Weapon and ammunition are transported packed in a locked and sealed metal case, which must be stowed in an isolated baggage or cargo compartment.

The weight of ammunition carried by one passenger must not exceed 5 kg.

The weight of ammunition carried in the flight must not exceed 50 kg.

If the free baggage allowance of weapons, ammunition and special equipment is exceeded, it is paid above the norm.
